Clay Hollow Blocks

Post by rewatcher »

I recently came to know about the clay hollow blocks from a friend. The company (wienerberger) that manufactures these blocks have a plant in Kunigal and as per their website these blocks are getting traction in Indian market. Has anyone come across these blocks? I don't know the costs but I am guessing they must be substantially expensive compared to the traditional bricks. If anyone has used these blocks for residential houses or know someone who has used it could you please update this thread with the pros and cons?

I've seen those hollow clayblocks some time ago. I think the price quoted then was like 37rs/block. (around 1.5 yrs back in one of those exhibitions in palace grounds - the blocks were nt popular then). They were just exploring the market then.

They had said that their depot is in Magadi road - between that shell petrol bunk & Raheja apartments.

Hope this info helps :)

hi...
The wienerberger blocks are slowly picking up in Indian market.. Initially they used to import every item and the cost was so crazy. Now they started manufacturing in India. There are many Indian manufactures making the same kind of blocks for past 5-6 years.
I really don't understand why a mud block costs so high, there is a huge cost difference between wienerberger and Indian once.wienerberger have a very special products like clay cladding tiles (ArGeTon® façade) .
These are not really feasible in terms of cost for individual residential projects, since the cost is higher than normal brick.
