Water Pipes

Waht should be size of pipe to be used from tank till bathroom/kitchen where ground floor has 2 house (rent) and 1 house at first floor? is it 3/4inch or 1inch?
Please suggest on this

The main distribution pipes are always bigger in diameter. Hence, they have to be a minimum of 1 inch.

my friend suggest me to go for 1inch pipe for the full house. His reasoning is that it will give better pressure at points like shower without having to use pressure pump. Is this a good idea? what is the standard size of bathroom and kitchen fittings, can we connect 1inch pipe to fittings?
