What is gap to maintain in Plinth/beam/Pillar/roof/Chejja

Post by sam_m400 »

Hi

What is gap we need to maintain during the barbending stage for Plinth/beam/pillar/roof/chejja?

I know it is based on number of column/pillar etc i.e load, but happen to hear from barbenders that they do keep 6inches with ring at 8" inches.is this same for pillar/beam/pillar/roof/chejja etc

Hi Sam
Did you have structural drawings? Beam ring gaps are designed depending up on the span between column to column. The gap can be any where between 6" to 9" with 8mm rods.Go for structural design from a professional.Bar bender talk with their experience at site, but they are not professional .It like asking nurse about dose of injection.Any one can gain field knowledge over a period of time but the basics are zero.I meet many of them saying the "steel is very heavy " "steel is very heavy" every time irrespective of scale of building. After talking so much they don't understand the importance of overlap distance, crank ,chairs, L -bend lengths etc..
I have no offense to any skilled labor but the middle men are always headache .

very true praveen

even i had to face the same probs with these people (barbending n mestri)for them work should be easier
i have a doubt that single ring is enough for colums n beam or double ring (my structural design is for dounble ring) not goin to change the rods size for colums however thought of changing ring size
