Carpenter work/Granite and rough stones

Post by sam_m400 »

Hi All

Wood

1. I inquired carpenter who is charging 6.5 Rs per Sq;Ft for windows/Doors. is it worth per Sq;ft charge?
2. Honne and Sal are being preferred for interior door/Teak for main/pooja doors, but charge i got is Honne 1900 Per Cub/Ft and Sal 950 per Cub/Ft and Neem 650 per cub/ft .Is it correct price as i seen in the forum Honne is price stated from 1650 to 1800. Is both Honne and Sal over priced ?
3. Teak (Burma) he is charging 3000 Rs. Is it worth?
4.I heard instead of honne we can used second quality team which is priced at 1900 .How good is this?

Granite

1.Granite is charged from Rs 80 to 280 Rs per Sqft in Bannerghata road shops. Is it worth?. there is no discounts they are offering. Is any other shops areas were we can bargain and get lower prices.
2. There is special rough stones for laying in outdoors which cost from 80 to upwards. Is it worth ?

Hello Sam,

I have purchased Red Sal and Burma Teak recently(2 weeks ago).

Red Sal - 900 per cub/ft
Burma Teak - 2850 per cub/ft

Ghana teak and Honne costs are almost equal or ghana teak may cost you Rs. 50 to 100 more. If you would like to paint, then you can go for honne only.

Granite price range mentioned by you is reasonable. You can visit Jigani for more granite shops.

Hi Suneel,
The wood prices you mentioned are reasonable. Where did you buy them. Are they of good quality?

any input on carpenter charges as they are asking for 6.5 Per Sq.Ft. How much your carpenter charging ?

Good amount you got as less than 50 to 100 Rs less than what being quoted for me. Can you share where you bought those?

Hi Mahesh,

I have not purchased from timber yard. I have also bought from a retail shop(Bhagwan timber mart, Srinivasanagar BSK 3rd Stage).

I asked my carpenter to come and select the cut pieces of logs. He came and choose himself. I felt burma teak quality is good, but red sal quality is average because I could see some of them were having small cracks. My carpenter told it is very usual in red sal and portions of it can be removed while making window frames.

Suneel,

You mentioned below that for Wardrobes ( Bed and Kitchen ) your carpenter is charging only 85Rs per sqft for labor. This sounds very cheap. I got a quote of 230 Rs Per sqft for WardRobes( Box-type ) and 130 for Frame type of Wardrobes. Pls share your carpenter details. Sounds too good to be true. :)

Hi Akash,

My carpenter is pretty busy right now as he is working at multiple buildings. Kindly let me know your site location so that I can inquire his availability.
