HI
I have a house G +2 on a 50*80 site which is 30 years old , the ground floor construction was in way back 1972 and first floor in 1982 and second floor in 1995.
I like to construct a 4 floor in my house , it is not column based foundation but the load bearing walls are very thick. so i like to know whether my foundation can support 4 floor, whom should i contact to check the foundation, can any one give me some link. secondly does the corporation will allow me to construct the 4 floor, the house is located in a residential area.
Can any body please provide me some inforamation on this it will be a great help

Re: 4 floor on house with old foundation
Hi Thajmeel,
The strength in any load bearing structure can only be decided on physical inspection. In general all the old structures are designed are for G+1 max .You should contact a good structural engineer and take his opinion.
