What is CMC Khata and BBMP Khata

Dear Sir,

Earlier apart from Bangalore Corporation the following civic bodies were functioning in Bangalore. They are CMCs in Bommanahalli, Dasarahalli, Byatarayanapura, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Yelahanka, K.R.Puram, and two more places.

Many private layouts came up under the above mentioned CMC area. The residents had taken Khata for their property and many of them had paid their taxes for both constructed houses and vacant plots.

Later onwards, all the areas under these CMCs were brought under BBMP. Prior to this activity, the “Akrama and Sakrama” problem started.

Now the query is:

1. Whether the existing owners are paying the taxes to BBMP.
2. If a person purchases a property either a built up house or vacant plot, whether he/she can get it registered in their names and whether they will be able to get Khata or the existing CMC Khata will be transferred to their name.
3. What is the difference between CMC Khata and BBMP Khata? How to convert a CMC Khata to BBMP Khata
4. In case if a person is having (or gets CMC Khata) whether he/she can get his/her plan approved from the authorities.
5. For the purpose of seeking the loan from Banks, what is the status of these properties?
6. It is being told that either existing owners or new owners have to pay betterment charges to BBMP. If so what would be its amount whether will it runs to Rs. 1 lakh and above or will be it be calculated on per square foot basis. Whether it is going to be different for constructed houses.
