Khata and Property tax for apartments

Hello members,

I have a question regarding Khata and property tax.
Our apartment was completed in 2012 and we occupied during that year.
We got the Occupancy Certificate from BBMP only last month, June 2014.
Property tax for the land on which our apartment stands was paid by the builder till the year 2012-13.
Most of us have not paid property tax for our flats.

To get our khata we need upto date tax paid receipts.

Now the question is - from when do we pay tax for our apartments? Will it be from the day of registration of our individual flats or the date of issue of Occupancy Certificate?

Since 2012-13 property tax is paid by the builder, You need to pay for 2013-14 and 2014-15.
Take the copy of previous 3-4 years tax paid receipt from builder. You need this while applying for khata as well. (obviously it will be for the full property and not for individual flats)
BBMP is only bothered about the continuity in payment for all financial years and doesn't care who paid it.
And responsibility of payment starts when property is registered in one's name.

I was referring to the property tax paid by the builder on the entire land. Now do you mean I have to pay property tax on this land for 2013-14-15?

As I understood I have to pay tax from 2012 for my flat.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks.
