BANGALORE: The survey of Arkavathy Layout will begin on Saturday. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is likely to complete the survey within a month. And as directed by the Supreme Court, the BDA is likely to submit the report by the first week of September.
BDA Commissioner Siddaiah ruled out the possibility of enhancing the compensation for land owners who have not yet accepted the compensation for their lands.
“According to law, we cannot enhance the compensation but we will ensure that interest on the fixed award is given to the land owners,†said Siddaiah. “They will get the incentive sites that would compensate them to a great extent as they will be able to sell them at the present market value.†The BDA is yet to take a decision on acquiring lands around Srirampura and K Narayanpura.
The Supreme Court had asked the BDA to reconsider its decision to acquire lands around these two villages as they did not figure in the original plan of the layout. The BDA had maintained that the lands around these villages were being acquired for developing civic amenities like parks and play grounds.
Elaborate security arrangements for the survey Deputy Commissioner of police B R Ravikanthe Gowda said there were unlikely to be many protests or resistance as the Supreme Court has already given its verdict on the issue.
“We have made elaborate security arrangements and we have posted nearly 100 personnel for the purpose,†he said.
