BANGALORE: The land owners who lost their lands to the jinxed Arkavathy Layout symbolically took back the possession of their land as the government failed to hold talks with them within the deadline.
The farmers had given the govt time till January 15 to resolve the issue.
There was no resistance from any government agency. The land owners contended that the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA)
cannot develop the layout by acquiring the lands belonging to the
poor while de-notifying the lands belonging to the rich and the influential.
Moreover, the BDA cannot form enough sites to allot them to all the allottees.
Karnataka Raitha Horata Samithi President DS Gowda said though they have taken possession of their lands “we will participate in the talks if the government invites us and place our demandsâ€.
“We are demanding 60 per cent of the developed land if the government wants to form a layout,†he said. “If the government tries to form the layout by ignoring our demands, we will take our fight to a logical end and not allow the BDA to form the layout.â€

Re: Owners ‘take’ their lands back from state
Good lesson to BDA and government. Several other cases: BDA notifies the land, no compensation paid to owner and no acquisition of land for 10 years and comes back after DC conversion and sold plots to normal people. saying it is BDA property. I feel it is better dissolve BDA.
Thanks,
