Final notification for Kempegowda Layout soon
Bangalore, DH News Service:
Even before the dust kicked up by the government’s controversial allotment of sites under discretionary quota to elected representatives could settle down, it is reportedly gearing up to come out with a final notification for the new Kempegowda Layout.
The notification will finalise the extent of land acquired, along with the the formula to share sites with land owners.
“The government has set into motion the requisites for bringing out the final notification for the layout and it shall be done in a month’s time,” said a BDA official. According to the BDA officials, the draft notification on the layout has received 7,514 objections so far.
Objections
“The objections range from land being developed by owners to those who have used it for irrigation purpose. The claims also include those stating that the land is the only source of income for the owner,” said the official.
According to the BDA, the final notification will be brought out after an understanding is arrived at between the government and the land owners on the sharing of the developed sites or compensation for parting with the land.
The Dr K Shivaram Karanth Layout is also at the stage of preliminary notification and has attracted over 12,000 objections related to land acquisitions for the layout.
5 layouts to be developed
In all, the BDA will be developing five layouts and forming 1,68,065 sites. According to the government, the BDA is to acquire 4,814.15 acres for Kempegowda Layout; 3,456.12 acres for Dr K Shivaram Karanath Layout; 2,134.9 acres for Kyasamballi Changal Rayareddy Layout; 1,976.02 acres for D Devaraj Urs Layout and 2,806.09 acres for S Nijalingappa Layout.
Government order
Meanwhile, the BDA on Monday received the Government Order (GO) requesting for allotment of sites to the 10 elected representatives and a social worker in the city.
While the 10 MLAs have already been approved of the sites, the officials believe that the request for site allotment to 58 other MLAs may not be accommodated.
Officials believe that there will be a delay in allotting these sites to the beneficiaries as the Model Code of Conduct is in place due to the Assembly session. “But having said that, there should be no problem in awarding the sites. Even during the previous regimes there were times when the sites were allotted under the ‘G’ category,” he said.
Chief Minister’s son B Y Raghavendra, who was recently elected MP from Shimoga is one among the beneficiaries of 11 sites allotted under the ‘G’ category.
