BANGALORE: Happy with Rs80 lakh and a site as incentive for every acre, farmers came out in support of the proposed Kempegowda Layout, to be formed by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
At a press conference here on Friday, they expressed their satisfaction with the compensation, but maintained that their support was still conditional. "We are OK with the project, but it must be implemented at the earliest. We should not be made to wait long for the compensation,'' members of the Raitara Horata Samiti said.
The new compensation package is based on their meeting with BDA officials on October 10, 2010. It includes Rs80 lakh per acre and an incentive site, depending on the land acquired, but not exceeding a total of 10 sites. This, as per the GO dated November 9, 1989 (60x40 sqft for one acre and above; 30x40 sqft for a half-acre to less than one acre, and 20x30 sqft for less than half acre).
The proposed layout is between Bangalore-Mysore Road and Bangalore-Magadi Road in Bangalore South taluk. A total of 4,043 acres 27 guntas were notified in the final order dated February 18, 2010.
Meanwhile, the meeting on Arkavathy Layout between farmers and chief minister B S Yeddyurappa is expected to take place anytime next week.
