Water Softener for House

Hi All,

Am using that regular water softener which requires monthly monthly maintenance with salt to regenerate the resin. Is there any other option with less maintenance and better effectiveness.
3M is having some product (with some cartridge) but again hearing lots of bad reviews for the same.

Please suggest some water softener for full house.
