I recently purchased a B Khata site. The previous owner lost the tax document. The online application asks for SAS number or Old/New PIDs. I've the previous owner B Khata document which was obtained in the year 2008.
Can someone help me how to go about this? When I visited BBMP office, they are expecting me to pay from the year 2002 and it goes up to Rs. 50k.
Thanks,
Hem

Asking you to pay tax from 2002 is ploy to take more bribe from you.
If you go to their office multiple times, they will allow you to pay for the actual period say Rs 20k by taking another 10k as bribe.

Thank you for the reply. I know that the previous owner paid tax for last year. It is just that he lost the document. Is there any other way I can get these details without paying bribe? 10K bribe is too much to me.
Thanks,
Hem

From my experience, B Khata is not transferable. So even if you pay, it gets paid in the old house owner's name with his SAS number. You need to make a new B Khata. And for this, they would ask you to pay for 5/6 years tax, i.e from 2008 so that they can get a SAS number and you continue to pay based on this new SAS number. There seems no provision to actually change the name in B khata.

The above statement is not valid. You can get the B-khata transferred. It looks like that was something like that those days. Nowadays, all the B-Khata are transferred to the new name and the old owner name is also mentioned, so that there is tracking.
