Hi chandramouli,
Rain water harvesting is not a tricky job that only certified plumbers can do.If you understand the concept of it you can guide your local plumber to do it.
First thing is it a home under construction/ or old one?. the basic funda is to connect your existing rainwater lines to existing well. You are not required to make any other recharging pit.
In case you want to reuse the rain water directly then you need to built a sump or tank at ground lvl or mid floor level( if possible ),in any case you need some help on this can call me any time on my mobile xxxxxxxxxxx any time.

Chandra Mouli,
there is nothing like BWSSP certified plumbers. Recently when BWSSB made compulsory of the Rainwater harvesting, they just trained few plumbers randomly thats all. If you are not satisfied with their attitude, please feel free to Contact the below mentioned details. Its a non-profit NGO. They'll be happy to assist you in all possible ways at minimum costs.
you can see many video clips in their website and the simply way to adopt rain water harvesting on the new and existing buildings at

praveen and msn,
thanks for your prompt response. one of the plumbers trained by bwssb turnedup yesterday and i could get the work completed by today evening. my house is abt 1650 sft on a 60x40 plot, ground and part 1st floor. the house has a well also. the work cost me 9500 ( 7500 towards materials purchased by me and 2000 towards labour ) the rain water is led into the well thru a filter ( designed at the indian institute of science and mfd by private companies , cost 2872 ). this is just for the info of those planning to implement the scheme.
