“Software Engineers and Doctors Housing Co-Operative Society” is a recognized society, approved & certified by Karnataka State Govt. I have joined as a member 2 years back. Society has stopped accepting the memberships for the last 1.5 years and now they started accepting the new memberships for a short period. I thought it would be useful for the folks who are interested in sites, apartments, villas and sending you this email. As of now they are concentrating on the sites and launched a new Project in Bangalore near Vishveswaraiah Layout(0.3 kms) and currently Bookings are open for the same. Benefits of Joining the Housing society as member



· Karnataka State certified society

· This is the first society catering its services to the housing needs of people working in IT segment

· Sites will be available for nominal prices. 30%-50% lesser than Market price (The beneficiaries can make substantial saving in a cost though group action)

· 90% of the community members are either software employees or Doctors

· All sites are as per the norms of BDA, LPA, BMRDA, BIAPPA or any local laws and approved by Govt

Some of the rules for becoming a member of the society



· Only a software employee or doctor can become a member of the society

· Only one site per member is allotted

· 2 shares will be given to each member

· 2501/- is membership fee. 2000 rs/- is deposited in the society name(in Govt bank) and is refundable any day if you choose to withdraw.

· Allotment will be based on the seniority of the membership, first come first serve basis

· Proposed new members:1500 (400 applications from Dell, Oracle, Microsoft, Logica CMG, Accenture, etc are already registered with society)

· Anyone who is not a software employee or doctor can apply for Associate Membership, however membership is not guaranteed since society has a limit of 5%-10% cap for Associate members and hence Membership is subject to approval process.

· Need to fill 2 application forms

· Cheque For 2501 rs/- in the favor of “SOFTWARE ENGINEERS AND DOCTORS HOUSING CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY”

· 2 Photos

· Any Local communication Address(Bangalore or Karnataka) is must

"Software Engineers and Doctors" thats a funny combination ! I can understand societies being open to professionals, but bracketing professions like doctors and software engineers together, that is some combo indeed. Are doctors the second largest group of professionals after software engineers in the city, or is it that they are "like" thinking ?

I have some doubts.

1. Does member has the choice of selecting the layout, plot ?

2. How transparently the society deal with the plot allotment ?

@Praveen.N , A group of software professionals , Doctors started this society and it was started in 2007 and got approval in 2008.

@Parkom, Originally the team who came up with the thought were software professionals, Soon after they realized that doctors also doesn't have any housing society of their own. Hence they decided to form the society for both Software professionals and Doctors. (On a personal note, i would love to have doctors in my neighbourhood. )

@Raghav, Yes, engineers and doctors outside are eligible. You can contact the society and get more details and regarding the same. For communication purposes, you need to have a local address in Karnataka(you might have to find one of your relative/friend who stays in Karnataka).


@MNRS, Member has choice of selecting layout, but not Plot. Plot selection is only possible *if* the society fixes any premium for corner sites, etc. Otherwise allotment will be done purely based on Seniority of membership/SiteApplication/Payments

This society is very much active and they are also planning to start couple of projects. They have already done a project near Sir M visveswaraiah layout. I have become a member recently with them. This is their website http://www.seadhousing.com/.

Can you share you experince with society people when booking and during progress of development? did you attend any of their meeting and also are they accepting membership and booking for phase II
