Info needed

I have hired a person who is building compound wall 40 feet in legth and 3 feet high (ONLY ONE WALL). He would be using hollow bricks and i am NOT going to plaster the wall. He is suggesting he needs half tractor Sand for this.

i felt this is too much.... Could anybody tell how much sand aproximately would be needed for this work.

Further i also need where can i get sand in little quantity(needed for building the wall) on bannerghatta road.
