Re: Veener, Laminates 2016
Mahesh, Here are my thoughts: Veneer looks good but is expensive because it costs more than laminates and requires polishing etc. On an average, using veneer costs about 2 – 2.5 times the cost of a laminate incl. polish etc. URO veneer is good but it is not the only good brand available in the marke...

Re: Chimney 2016
Hi Mahesh,
Sorry for the late reply. Due to forum rules, I will send you a PM with the details of the vendor. The ORO 90 - 4 burner hob and TERESA 90 as a combo cost me 61k after discount. The current price may differ depending on what offer is currently running
Thanks,
Karthik

Re: Chimney 2016
Mahesh, I think KAFF 90 canberra model costs about 35K+. In that range, you can also consider Teresa 90 from Nagold which is distributed by Hafele. I recently bought ORO 90 - 4 burner hob and TERESA 90 chimney (hood) from Nagold and it is a good combination. Suction capacity is about 1200 which meet...

Swamy, I recently constructed a duplex house on a 30x40 plot with the entire ground floor dedicated to parking. Re: Which wood is best for windows and doors ? Honne,Red/Gum
Hi, We used white sal for door frames and window frames. For the window shutters, we used honne. All these will be painted and not polished For the main door and main door frame people generally use teak. For the room doors etc., you can go for good quality ready made doors About 6-8 months back, I ...

Re: Labor contract rate and agreement format
Rajesh, To be honest, I never did any formal agreement with my contractor. He basically wrote 26500 per chadra in a page of his dairy and he had initially said that watchman salary, digging charges and an additional side elevation (I have a corner site) will be extra and he has stuck to his word. Pa...

Re: Labor contract rate and agreement format
Rajesh,
I started my house construction on labour contract in May 2015 and I paid 26500 per chadra. My contractor says current rates are about 30000. Having said that, please inquire in a couple of other places before you finalize your decision.
Thanks,
Karthik

Hi Keerthi,
We used Birla super 53 grade for all cement works except plastering. For plastering work, we used Zuari 43 grade. With Birla super, you can't go wrong
Hope this helps
Thanks,
Karthik

Re: SS Railing references
Hi Anantha, S-rail has some great designs and finishing, very professional service and they give you proper gauge (SS-304). Local vendors may or may not provide the proper gauge and finishing. Kich also has good railings but they don’t have too many designs. However, S-rail can be a bit expensive. W...

Re: Painting which one to choose?
Hi Karthik, I think Jotun might be more expensive than Asian paints and availability is not widespread. Also, there are a lot of reliable Asian paints dealers in the country and duplicates shouldn't be a problem. If you are avoiding Asian paints only due to duplicates issue, you can check with Asian...
