Re: Problem of water seepage from poorly plastered wall
Thank you, Nivas & Praveen, for your responses. Much appreciated. @Praveen - In this case my parapet wall is at a higher position than my neighbor's parapet wall. But as you have suggested, closing the gap seems to be a good option. Would it be ok to use a fiber sheet, which could be fixed to my wal...

Problem of water seepage from poorly plastered wall
I have an interesting problem of water seepage. Request the experts to suggest ways to fix it. When I started construction of my home, there was a home already present at the back of my site ( both are 30 x 40 sites). That person had used entire space for 10 feet (wall on his site's edge) without an...

@Inam - Let me set the expectations right. First of all, if you have a 1BHK on ground floor, you cannot have a parking space for 3-4 cars, even if all of them are Nano cars. I'm sure you would also be owning at least 1 two-wheeler. Where would you park that? How would you get space for freely access...

Re: Concrete steps with Wooden
@Venky - I have used American pine wood planks for tread area of internal stairs. I don't have concrete steps, but thick MS frame on which wooden plank sits. I don't have risers. I got the pine wood planks that are used for packaging heavy machinery in ships (typically 1 inch thick and 10 feet long)...

Re: Covering Drain and sewer pipes in elevation
If it fits neatly into your elevation, you could think of using MS louvers or Aluminium louvers. I think the best option would be involve a good architect for creative suggestions.

Re: difference between 43 grade and 53 grade cement
Use 53 grade OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) only for concrete work and do not use it for anything else, since the heat of hydration is too much, as a result of which you have to cure it extensively. Else it would result in cracks. That said, you could use 43 grade for concrete work as well. For maso...

Re: Cost of Construction
There is no straight forward answer to this question, since there are many parameters that determine the cost of construction. Some of them are listed below: 1. Type of sand used (add to that lorry strikes and other external events) 2. Type of wood used for vaskals, window frames, door and window sh...

Re: Painting Quotation for new house
Hi Sahu,
If you are still looking for a painter, you could call this guy, who did the job really well at my home recently. His name is Samharu and mobile no. is 9591823898. You could provide my reference to him - same name as my login name. He painted my home located at HBR Layout.

Re: BWR vs BWP Plywood
Agree with Praveen. Many people use BWR plywood for all interiors including wardrobes, etc., whereas it's not really necessary. I have used BWR only for kitchen cabinet and that too the bottom portion, where the chance of contact with water is more. I have used MR (a.k.a. Commercial) for kitchen lof...
